Mehdi Ghasemi - Conductor of Tehran Sinfonia

Mehdi Ghasemi

1971 Tehran. Graduate of the Art University of Tehran. He was a student of Iranian professors and musicians like Heshmat Sanjari, Sharif Lotfi, Ahmad Pejman, Kambiz Roshan Ravan, Houshang Kamkar and Mehrbanou Towfigh.

In 1997 he travelled to Armenia in order to continue his education. He was a student of Professor Edward Mirzoyan’s composition class in Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. He learned the basics of conducting by Professor Yuri Davtian as well.

After returning to Iran, he formed the New Bahman Cultural Centre Choir in 1999 and Tehran Choir in 2001. He was the conductor of Arasbaran Cultular Centre String Orchestra from 2001 to 2002. He performed several concerts with Iranian and Armenian soloists during this time.

He moved to Canada and lived in Toronto from 2006 to 2009. He was a teacher of “Ontario Conservatory of Music” and he continued his conducting education with Nurhan Arman.

Mehdi Ghasemi is a teacher of the Art University of Tehran and the conductor of Tehran Choir.

Tehran Sinfonia at Roudaki Hall
Tehran Sinfonia will perform at Roudaki Hall on 20 and 21 October 2011. Works by Handel, Vivaldi, Barber, Britten and Debussy will be performed in this concert. Behnam Abolghasem will play with Tehran Sinfonia as piano soloist.

Tehran Sinfonia Concert
Tehran Sinfonia will perform in Niavaran Cultural Center on 21 and 22 July 2011. The pianist Reza Elhamian will perform Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12. Also, Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 by Bach and pieces by Gustav Holst and Astor Piazzolla will be performed in this concert.
